Chemical Ranges

The following charts will display proper chemical ranges for your hot tub and pool. This is meant as a reference only. If you are having difficulty maintaining your water clarity or balance please feel free to bring us a water sample forFREE Water Testing and we can help you get back to clarity and a relaxing soak in crystal clear water.

If you are having issues with your fill water:

Ideal Ranges

Free Chlorine 1.0 – 3.0 ppm
Combined Chlorine 0.00 – 0.05 ppm
Total Chlorine  1.0 – 3.0 ppm
 **With water purification  0.6 – 1.0 ppm
Bromine 3.0 – 5.0 ppm
Alkalinity  80-120 ppm
pH 7.2 – 7.8
Calcium Hardness 200–350ppm*
Stabilizer (Cyanuric Acid) 30–70ppm
Salt Level (Zodiac) 3000 – 3900 ppm
Copper 0.00 – 0.03 ppm
Iron 0.00

*Calcium Levels should be on the higher end in Concrete Pools.
*Calcium Levels should be on the lower end in Salt Pools.

Making Chemical Adjustments

To Increase To Decrease
Chlorine Unstabilized Granular or Liquid Chlorine Dilute the pool water Keep the pool surface exposed to allow burn-off
Alkalinity Alkajuster Dilute the pool water
pH pH Up pH Down
Calcium HyCal Dilute the pool water
Salt Add Salt Dilute the pool water
Copper/Iron N/A If Stain Erase does not work:
– Dilute the pool water
– Stain and Scale Control
– Natural Chemistry Products
Bromine Bromine T ablets Oxidizer Dilute the pool water

When doing a series of adjustments, make sure to adjust pH levels first, then alkalinity.

Always add the chemical to the water, never the water to the chemical!
